I am serving as the Academically and Intellectually Gifted Teacher at my school, Eastfield Global Magnet School. Our school utilizes a balanced calendar in which we have nine week sessions with a 3 week break. During the intercessions, we offer enrichment and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) camps. Our school has a Spanish immersion program (one class per grade level), and seeks to offer global themes each nine weeks. We concentrate on using project based learning and have a college and career focus. All of our students receive free (community) breakfast and lunch. We have a high population of students in poverty, and many families struggling to become bilingual. I have taught second through fifth grade for 23 years, and concentrate much of my instruction in science and engineering. I earned a Master's degree at Appalachian St. Univ. and am Nationally Board Certified.
