As a first year teacher, my classroom is very empty. These books and supplies will be the beginnings of a classroom library. Our library will be a mix of curriculum related books, as well as students selections. In addition to supplementing the lessons, providing more in-depth information about topics of student interest, and celebrating the various cultures in our class, extra reading will help students practice their English reading and vocabulary skills. We also hope to include student reviews and recommendations in the library area. This way students can let one another know which books they enjoyed, which books they may want to try, and which books they think we should add to our growing collection.
