We have several alternative seating options in the room, low tables, crate seats, butterfly chairs, and ball chairs. I would like to add a high top table where students can sit or stand to work in a small group or on their own. I believe 21st century classrooms should not have students sitting at desks in rows. The high top table will can provide a quiet work space where movement is easier. Students need to practice working with all peers and build their interpersonal skills. In order to prepare students for future jobs they need to be able to problem solve with others and communicate effectively. I believe alternative seating options help to build students interpersonal and communication skills.
