The students in my Intense Interventions classroom have significant disabilities, and many have equipment that they need access to throughout the school day. This year, we have two students in wheelchairs full-time who also each have stranders and gait trainers to facilitate their progress on gross motor goals. Because of these pieces of equipment and the large number of students working on learning to walk, it's essential that my tiny classroom have as much open floor space as possible. Having seat pockets will enable my students to have their needed materials within reach without them being on the floor. Because we do not have standard desks in my classroom (there just isn't enough room for them), there is no other available storage for student materials other than their cubbies, which hold their coats and backpacks.
