My co-teacher, Kristen, and I are eager to start the year off in our new 4th and 5th grade bridge class. While a large portion of our students walk short distances to our school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, many families choose to commute from other neighborhoods - some coming all the way from the Bronx, Queens, and outer Brooklyn every day. 72% of our students receive free- or reduced-price lunches. Our classroom serves a diverse group of readers with many unique interests and a variety of needs.
