Students will read and annotate Civil Disobedience to study language arts while learning how to stand up for their rights. Students will read and annotate The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass to learn that their freedom and dignity is inherent and cannot be taken away. Students will learn how to write and annotate a text to prepare them for college. I don't want my college-bound students to leave high school without knowing how to write in their books. I am sure that my insistence on them not writing on my class sets has scared them! I want to give them a book and say, "It is yours, now write on it!"
