"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child." - Dr. Seuss
Reading is the foundation of education. It is such an important skill that is used in every subject area, and most importantly life. Strong foundation skills and a love for reading can be a wonderful asset to a child as they progress through the years.
My project consists of a set of classroom books that will be needed to teach our new reading curriculum. Our state standards are ever changing, and we are doing our best to continue to meet those standards with outdated resources. This new curriculum will be so refreshing as we continue to make reading fun and engaging for our students.
I can't wait for my students to read "I Was So Mad" by Mercer Mayer as I teach them that it is important to follow the rules and do things the right way. "A Bad Case of the Stripes" by David Shannon will show my students that it's ok to celebrate our differences. There are many more wonderful titles throughout my project that relate to the seasons, holidays, and life lessons. I'm so excited for my students to get a chance to experience these books as we take reading to the next level!
