I know where Letters alive and Math alive will fit into my daily routine in our classroom. We would begin each morning by learning a new letter. Letter recognition at the beginning of the school year is so important. Letters alive would bring each letter "alive" by using augmented reality to engage all learners. Students will meet an animal that begins with the letter sound. They can see the letter in upper case or lower case form, hear the sounds the letter make, as well as hear the letter name. I believe that all of my students will learn all letter sounds and names after they have learned about each letter. After they have all learned their letters and the sounds, we can move on to using the letter cards to build words and then begin writing sentences about the words we build!
Math alive would allow each child to have a personal experience with all of the numbers and it would create a memory for them to retrieve when using numbers in everyday tasks. This is an important concept because math is a very abstract concept for young learners. Math alive uses the same animals from Letters alive; so students are familiar with the animals and will be seeing the animals they love teach them math. Math alive teaches more than just numbers; it helps students learn addition, word problems, working with graphs, subtraction, number comparison and so much more.
