The tablets will be used to store books that students can read independently, with a partner, or guided. Activities that support reading comprehension will also be stored to the tablets. My students are learning to read, and need exposure to literacy as much as possible. I serve a 98% free/reduced lunch population, and my kindergarten students come into my class with deficits and gaps over which they have no control. When engaging in guided reading, my students need as many opportunities to hear, see, and engage with reading as possible. When I am working with a small group of students during literacy, students are split into 2 sub-groups. One group is working with me, and another group is working independently. The 4-5 students working independently will be using the tablets to engage in reading via technology until they switch back to me. Power of literacy!
