The 5th grade students at Provident Charter School are reading and studying the book, "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" written by William Kamkwamba. The memoir is about William as a young boy who was dismissed from his school due to his family's poverty. He sneaks into a library to learn how to build a windmill to save his village from famine. Our students will be attempting to harness the wind by creating their own windmills in science class utilizing our school's makerspace. By the end of our project, the students will be able to answer the question: can we generate enough energy to light up an LED light?

About my class
