I am a hands-on technology based science teacher that is very animated in the classroom. I have been known to rap and sing to get students to understand and remember facts and topics. I teach at an inner-city school in Conway, South Carolina. Approximately 70% of my 110 sixth grade science students are from low-income families who rely on free or reduced breakfast and lunch for their children. We have children who are from other countries learning with us and many students from difficult backgrounds. School is a safe place to be for most of my students and so I want to make their learning experience with me a wonderful and memorable one. Learning science through STEM experiences is a must in today's technologically driven society. I am working every day to give my students a balance of technology and hands-on experiences that enhance their learning better preparing them for 21st Century learning and the workforce.
