Flexible seating will allow my students to learn the way that works best for them. Research has shown that not all students learn the same way and it is my responsibility to create a learning environment that sets all of my students up for success. I currently have many students who are very active and fidgety. The balance ball chairs and active learning stools were chosen specifically with those students in mind. I plan on putting those stools and chairs as well as the regular stools at tables for students to choose. I also plan to use the bungee chair and saucer chair to create more choices for the whole class. In my classroom, I try to create a respectful, comfortable environment so my students feel comfortable asking questions and do their best learning in a place that feels like it is their own. These new seating options will create that space for my students. I already have many students who move around the room during independent work time. Giving them these choices has helped them focus on their work and feel comfortable and respected in my classroom. This has done wonderful things for their motivation and with additional choices, this motivation and success will improve even more.
