My students live in a high poverty area with little or no books at home. In most cases they have families that are doing their best to survive. Michigan residents depended on the auto industry and many parents are unemployed at this time. My children are motivated by being a part of reader's theater, it makes them feel important when they can perform in front of their classmates. It encourages them to use expression in reading and actually bring stories to life. Our school is overcrowded and space is limited but we do our best to make learning exciting.
