My students need to be surrounded by good books. They often times do not have access to books and literature at home or have the means to get to the public library. Reading and a culture of literacy has not been developed in their homes. I have discovered if I create my own classroom library, students borrow, devour, and love the books that I have chosen. I spend a great deal of time researching and looking for books that I really feel with appeal to a variety of students. I have read all of the books on the list and can imagine which book would appeal to which student.
