Color...it's everywhere in our world, except my classroom. My students need a chance to bring color into the classroom. Currently, we have access to a black and white printer that we use daily. We use it to print texts for students to read, games for students to play, and learning experiences. All of this in black and white. Imagine reading a story about cultures around the world and then looking at photos to go with the text - only to see the pictures are black and white. So much for the colorful cultures. Students need a chance to see their work in color. Many times, as a teacher, I use several internet resources for my students. I print them games, flash cards, and differentiated learning materials. I do my best to make these resources attractive for my students. Unfortunately, the only way to make these resource colorful is by printing them and color paper. My students would love playing their syllable matching Star Wars game with colored pictures! They would love to see the beauty in the world around them through pictures. Many of my students have never left the state of Florida, much less seen nature's beauty across the globe. The Grand Canyon is exquisite in person but in black and white...it leaves a lot to the imagination.
