Students need the tools of the trade in order to achieve professional quality results, and when we invest in them, they feel valued and important. Podcasting has become one of the most important ways to reach authentic audiences, and our students are experts in many areas. I want to provide meaningful opportunities for students to become researchers, collaborators, and communicators through these podcasts. In our multimodal world, podcasting offers students an opportunity to excel in areas previously reserved for those with access to tools like those on my list. The majority of my students have limited resources in their home environment. Many students are technologically adept, so our current "make do" attempts at podcasting have limited their capacity for growth. This equipment will allow me to set up a legitimate podcasting, recording, and producing station in my classroom. Students need the proper tools in order to reach their full potential in the growing world of podcasting. Although many of our students have Chromebooks and cell phones, the addition of the microphone bundle and the MacBook will elevate their results and allow us to reach beyond the classroom walls. Currently, students in the Early College Experience course are required to produce multimodal compositions, including podcasts, videos, and documentaries. These tools will provide incredible learning opportunities to become experts with the equipment, programs, and platforms that professionals use in the real world.
