My school has had the same, old desks for almost 15 years. Currently, we have partner-style desks with plastic sliding trays for storage. The trays do not allow for organization or neatness, and the desks are very worn. They are heavy, bulky, and difficult to move around. In our classroom, we are moving from the outdated teaching style of everyone sitting behind their own desk, not talking to anyone, to a more project-based, small group learning environment. To better accommodate this new learning style within our classroom, we need furniture that allows students to collaborate. We are requesting new rectangular tables that allow small group-style seating. This will let our students have meaningful talk about their learning, while giving them a setting to work on group projects.
