With this science center, my students will be able to view the unseen world of common microorganisms. They will learn what a microscope is and how to use it. For most, it will be the first time. Wash your hands! Sneeze in your elbow! Don't touch that, its full of germs! I tell my students about germs every day, but they have never seen a microorganism through direct observation. I think they will be thrilled to see the living organisms in pond water (our first experiment). This hands-on activity is geared to pique their interest in science and increase the possibility of them washing their hands without constant prompting. Who knows, some may go on to be a scientist.
