It has been quite the interesting few years of teaching since schools were closed in March of 2020. There was no closure, no idea how to navigate a virtual world, all to find out we had to do it AGAIN in the 2020-21 school year. Not only was I new to the virtual world, I had NO idea how to turn a performing arts class into a digital performing arts class. Sure, the students could make videos... alone, in their room... with background noise and no audience... but it was not the same. Though I am happy to be fully back in the classroom this coming school year, the mask mandate is still in place as cases are rising by the day. I am going from seeing students full faces on a screen when performing... to only seeing eyes. And while eyes are better than nothing, facial expressions and being able to see mouth movements when performing is vital to a performing arts class. With your donation each student will have their own mask that they will use in class for performances and then store in my room after, they will only be used for theatre class!
