My students come from low-to-middle income households. Approximately 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Many do not have books at home and sometimes the only books that they read are at school. WIth the CA budget being what it is, our district has already told us that there aren't any funds for textbooks or novels this next year. The students that will be reading this novel are taking part in a new program that will soon be adopted state-wide that helps them prepare for a career in Graphic Arts.
