Being a one-to-one iPad classroom is an opportunity that I have been requesting for many years. I recently received my iPads and the kids are LOVING how they can share their reading in so many innovative ways. My students are learning and exploring new apps daily. My school district provided me with the technology, but not a very effective way to organize all the materials. As a Reading Specialist, I have some limitations that regular classroom teachers don't face. I only see my students for very small chunks of time. Most of my groups are 20-35 long. I quickly realized that without an organization system for them, we were using a lot of instructional time just getting all the materials needed to complete the lessons.
The rolling carts and compartment organizers will provide a compact and specific place for all materials, so we will have more time to creatively extend our learning and create projects using the recording cubes.
After only having the iPad for a very short time, I have already seen the motivation it has sparked in my students to make them want to read more so they can share their learning in creative ways. With an organization system in place and the sound cubes students need to record their projects, I am excited to see where their creativity takes them. I know the sky's the limit and they are just beginning to see that for themselves.
