These books will enhance my classroom library and add to the print-rich environment that I strive to provide for my students. I read to them every day and they spend at least thirty minutes daily independent reading books of their choice. The books I have chosen will provide diverse stories from a variety of genres to reach the interests of all of my students. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy our independent reading time. With these books, my students will be able to choose a variety of high interest books at their independent reading level. I have seen first hand when students have found that "one" book/series that hooks them and they become lifelong readers. The best way to improve reading is to read more and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students have already shown an astounding interest in independent reading, and this project will definitely help their experiences with printed word.
