Creating a collaborative space allows my students to work together and maximize their learning. By using tables rather than the outdated attached desk/chair combo seating, kids are comfortable and free to learn. Tables also provide students of size a comfortable space to sit, as many of the children struggle to fit into the combination desks. The classroom of the future doesn’t look anything like the rows of desks of the past - it is a place where freedom of movement and the ability to collaborate are fostered and encouraged. To prepare our children for the workplace of the future, we have to let go of the past. To give them a seat at the societal table, we literally have to give them a seat at the table.
