We are a Magnet School within the metro-Nashville district. Our school's main focus is the fine arts; prospective students have to qualify both artistically and academically. They then have to wait and see if their names are chosen in a lottery system for the limited amount of openings available, making earning a spot very prestigious. Our students qualify based solely on their hard work, forming a diverse cross-section! We have aspiring movie stars learning next to future sculptors; homeless students learning next to the children of local doctors; students from five different continents learning together - not only academically, but what it means to become part of the mixing pot that is today's America! While highly motivated to come to school each day, many of these students aren't exactly enthusiastic about Chemistry. I work to change this mindset with fascinating experiments - and engage their curiosity.
