My kids need tools as they work through constructions in Geometry. I will use the Bullseye Demonstration Compass, the Dry Erase Magnetic Compass, and the Dry Erase Magnetic Protractor to model constructions in Geometry. Students will use the Student Bullseye Compasses to do a personal project. This project will require the students to work together with classmates to construct angles, line segments, polygons, etc.
The students will discover and apply surface area and volume formulas using Relational Geosolids. They also will be able to see the cross section of polyhedrons using these Geosolids. The students will be able to practice the standards they have learned using the Quizmo Geometry game. This will be used for students that finish assignments quickly. This game will provide motivation to continue practicing math instead of sitting around. The Pre-Algebra and Algebra Learning Card will provide a resource for the students to access quickly in order to recall information that they learned the previous few years in math. Each of these cards are laminated and one will be in the bag attached to each student desk.
The TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator will be used to model the many uses of the calculator to solve math problems. Our classroom currently has 35 of these same calculators. Presently, three of my classes have 35 students each. Since my classes are often maxed to the limit, that interferes with students success with graphing calculators. When I use the document camera to model using the graphing calculator, I have to borrow a student graphing calculator to show them. This is unacceptable because it leaves a student out. Students don't feel successful if they have been left out.
Through the use of these tools and your generosity, my students will be successful!
