This project will help my students become better readers by inspiring them to read using classic children's picture books. Classic books like Dr. Seuss and child favorites such as, "Pete the Cat" & the "Llama Llama" series help move students from observant listeners to active participants. The pictures, repetitive text and phonemic patterns assist students in becoming better readers. These books and comfy floor seats will provide a cozy and safe reading nook where students will want to read independently. These books will also help instill values and social skills in young students, especially within a self-contained, special ed classroom.
