Every day, I give my students time to enjoy a book on their reading level. My job is to not only teach children how to read, but also to instill a lifelong love of learning. As a first year teacher, my library is limited. I am looking to expand my library with this collection of 50 books. I would love to expose my first graders to this collection. They are grade appropriate and will allow my students to practice fluency, accuracy and word recognition. The collection of books will help my children love to read and master the following Common Core State Standards: RF.1.4a Read Grade-level text with purpose and understanding; RF.1.4b Read grade-level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression. RF.1.4c Use context to confirm or self-correct word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary.
