I am currently a Primary Resource Special Education teacher. Next year, I will be teaching first grade. I am excited to use the FirstieLiteracy Curriculum and FirstieMath Curriculum by Tara West (a Teachers Pay Teachers seller) to supplement my literacy lessons. The FirstieLiteracy units are based upon the close read model with a supporting text. Each unit of FirstieLiteracy focuses on a different theme (e.g. sharing, animals, weather, etc). Each week we focus on one mentor text, and each day we look closely at that text. The themed mentor texts focus on different reading strategies and skills including Listening & Learning, Listening & Discovering, and Listening & Annotating. I would really love to have a physical copy of these books to read with my students! This project covers almost an entire year of mentor text read alouds for math and literacy. I have created another project to finish the entire year of read alouds. The other project is titled Memorable Mentor Texts.
