My students are...strong, dedicated, goal-driven, community service oriented, successful through adversity. Many are...future first-generation college students, have had their potential overlooked in traditional classrooms, have overcome obstacles such as homelessness, poverty, learning disabilities, single and absent parents, and other life-changing events. My students are part of a college readiness program called AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). They work hard to prepare to not only get into a university of their choice, but learn the skills needed to be successful in both college and their chosen career. I am so proud to see the growth my students achieve in the four years they are in the program.
