Our students are having to learn in the most non-traditional way ever. Yes, we promote the use of technology in our curriculum but never has technology had to be the sole provider for their education. Technology is great but I want to make it the best experience ever for them by providing live lessons with up to date programs and computers that are equipped to bring vibrant learning to their homes. These computers will give students the opportunity to log in to our virtual classroom for daily instruction and have some sense of normalcy. One of the main concerns students have is not being able to see their classmates and teachers. By having whole class virtual meetings, students are able to feel united with me as their teacher and their classmates. Students will also be able to complete electronic tasks that I assign to them on Iready (an educational program purchased by our school district which gives students practice on grade level-curriculum based lessons that I assign after instruction), ixl or epic books where students can read assigned books and take quizzes to show comprehension was mastered or just read for enjoyment. With each of these tools, I am able to see students' work and progress. Using these results, I can also schedule online tutoring sessions if needed so that students are not falling behind and are able to be successful. With these resources, I will also be able to help students explore their curriculum and other educational events like virtual field trips. Having these computers will help students achieve success and remove the burden from parents who are worried that their children may miss valuable instruction from lack of technology.
