Being a 5th grade teacher in Massachusetts means that my students need to take the MCAS state testing at the end of every school year. Recently, our state has made all testing completely computer-based. Our elementary school in the heart of Chicopee, Massachusetts is fortunate enough to have technology in every classroom. Although we have Chromebooks for daily use, we don’t have enough storage for our technology. Not having a safe and organized place to store this technology has become a problem in our grade level. Currently the students place them in file folder organizers and the cords are constantly getting tangled. Without the proper storage carts for fifth grade, our technology won’t last long enough to continue helping our students prepare for state tests and provide endless virtual education opportunities. By donating to our project, you will not only help to keep our classroom organized, but you will help to create a safer learning environment for our fifth grade students. Tangled cords are a fire hazard and as much as both the students and teachers try to keep it all neat and organized, it continues to be a problem. Our kids do a great job making sure they are charging at night, but let's face it - they're just kids! Contributing to our project for a charging/storage cart will show our students the importance of taking care of classroom materials. The use of technology in the classroom has made such a positive impact on our students’ success and we would love for that success to continue on for many years to come!
