My ESOL students have an eagerness to learn and be successful in the classroom. Coming from extremely differing backgrounds, together, they speak up to 13 different languages and have various reading and academic abilities in both their home language and English. They are hardworking, joyful, energetic, curious, humorous, and kind. My desire is to give them every opportunity available to reach their goals of English proficiency as well as true success in their classrooms. Home languages of Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Japanese, Chinese, Gujarati, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam are some of the various languages they balance with English as their second language for success in their classroom. Many lack English support at home and close the academic gap with school support only. My goal is to encourage a love of learning and bravery when faced with challenges.
