Currently, we have several students who are unable to join their peers for PE class as the sounds and other sensory obstacles they face are too great. Many of our non-Learning Disabled students ride their bicycles to school and have offered to begin an alternative gym class with their friends who can not attend mainstream gym, however we do not have a bicycle for these other students to use. Having a tricycle available for students to ride with their peers would be the ultimate example of inclusion. In this age of bullying, to have fifth and sixth grade peers think of their classmates with differing abilities and make this request blows my mind; how can we deny them this organic act of humanity?
