I love to read chapter books aloud to my students. I find that they are more engaged and excited about reading when they have their own chapter book to hold in their hands and follow along, some even volunteer to read out loud to the rest of the class. Dedicating time to reading rich literature in the classroom opens up the opportunity for engaging discussions about characters, themes, making connections to our own lives, teaching important social emotional skills, increasing vocabulary and comprehension, and just overall increasing a child's love for books.

About my class
