My classroom has 5 out-dated desktop computers that have had to be "re-imaged" to have the current programs on them. Some are pretty slow and a little glitchy. We definitely "make due" with what we have, but I would love to be able to provide my mathematicians and scientists with up-to-date, wireless technology to facilitate more collaborative learning. Due to the high poverty level in my community, the students have limited access to technology and access to the internet. I take my duty of teaching my students how to use technology properly and fostering a safe digital community very seriously. In addition, this year my students will also be afforded the opportunity to take keyboarding classes, so the laptops will allow them more opportunities to practice their typing skills.
