The building materials, motorized machines, and planks will enable my students to understand the importance of making mistakes, with regard to the tenacity needed to master skills. Through building and creating children discover that mastery is not achieved the first time, it takes practice and failure to become an expert in a given field and through teamwork anything is possible. Through language and hands-on manipulation, children can predict outcomes, explain their thinking, and devise and compile the information needed to complete the task. These hands-on activities provide opportunities to problem solve which is the ultimate goal of education. For students to become productive members of society they need to know they have a gift to share with the world and it is our job as educators, to give them opportunities to find these gifts.
