One way that we learn at our preschool is by exploring our world. Children use their senses to try and make sense of the world around them. They do this by touching, tasting, smelling, seeing, moving, and hearing. Providing them with a sandbox, toy trucks and sand toys will increase their opportunities to stimulate their senses, explore their world, cooperate with their friends, enhance their fine motor skills, and just relax. Playing with sand and other sensory experiences are crucial to brain development. Having a sandbox on our playground will encourage my preschoolers to discuss ideas, make plans, take turns, and use their imaginations while having fun just being a kid!
