This project would give low income students opportunity, understanding and also allow for real life hands on experiences that they would otherwise not be able to investigate. My students would be able to explore and learn about places that are in their own community; such as, grocery stores and diners (Pretend and Play Diner and Pretend and Play Market). They would be able to build/construct different venues such as hospitals and farms using the Brick Building Activity Table with Master Set Bricks and the Fun Farm Play Mat with Farm Animal Families Set.
Students would gain knowledge about careers and understand the importance of becoming productive citizens in a community. They will be able to pretend to be construction workers using the Building Sets, Farmers using the farm materials, Mechanics using the Block Science Trucks, Scientists using materials such as the Digital Microscope, Archaeologist set and test tubes and Astronauts using the Play and Explore Rocket.
The addition of these various community and career materials will allow my students the hands on experiences that will create a love for learning and interest in exploring their future successes.
