We are requesting a class set of The Candymakers so that my students will be able to fully analyze this novel throughout our literature study. It is beneficial for each student to have a copy to use in the classroom so they can read along, build their vocabulary and fluency, use it to analyze story elements, and find evidence in the text when responding to questions. This novel will be used as an introduction literature study for my students that will lead to small group novel studies, and even independent novel studies later on in the year. Through modeling expectations and working together as a class throughout this unit, it is my hope to guide my students through a deep understanding of not only this novel, but in good reading strategies they can use for any story they read.
