By funding this project, each student will be given a copy of the book, Out of My Mind, to read along with me as I read aloud. The students have been working on developing reading comprehension strategies all year. The students have asked me if I have any books they can read with me. By providing them a copy of the book, Out Of My Mind, it will be stored in their reading book boxes and they will have it available for better discussions and to support their comprehension with evidence from the book. With an individual copy of the book, Out of My Mind, students will be able to reread sections of the book and use the book in small group discussions. Students who choose will be able to take the book home to reread the book independently after the read aloud is complete. Our school lacks the funds to purchase class sets of books, so this will be my first class set of a read-aloud book.
