The novel Serafina's Promise teaches valuable lessons in perseverance. After reading this novel as a class study, students will be able to better understand the struggles of a child in Haiti, a county very different from their own. Students will also gain a better understanding of figurative language and the benefits of using it in their own writing. Many students need a quiet environment in which to study and process, thus the use of noise cancelling headphones is critical for them while we work on our Book Club Study with Serafina's Promise. These headphones will also be voluntarily used during any reading and writing activity of the students' choice.
