My students are what you might consider lower middle class to below the poverty line. We cannot afford the technology that more wealthy schools can offer. My students are longing to learn, even if they do not realize it. They struggle with vocabulary and become frustrated. This eventually leads to giving up on reading. I want to cure their frustration. I want them to understand that there is a world out there that contains beautiful things and that they themselves have something important to say... if only they knew how to communicate it. Someone needs to stand up and tell them that what they have to say is important. Not only that, they need to be shown how to communicate it.

About my class
