My students attend our relatively small, (280 students) old-time neighborhood school. My children come from many different backgrounds and many of their families consider a good education a great opportunity and privilege. This is projected through the children's eagerness and excitement to learn and express themselves. Many don't have books to read or art supplies to do this at home.
