In most math middle school classrooms, teachers model several problems per class. A document cameral will allow me to models these problems more effectively, save them for absent students, and minimize distractions that may be happening when a teacher turns her back to write on the board. I was at a professional development recently and our presenter had this document camera. It had a lot of great features for a very reasonable price. Research shows that student learning is more meaningful with they can share their work with others, explain their work, have class discussions about a piece of work and analyze different ways to solve the same problem. A document camera will allow for this type of learning to take place. I work in a district that is not able to provide these for our teachers and it would benefit my students and their learning. It also will allow me to switch between my curriculum and the document came with ease.
