As a school counselor, my goal is to create a counseling suite where my kids feel safe to come in and talk about life. In order to do this, I have to create a calm and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable to open up and talk about the things they are struggling with. The items I have chosen to be funded will help me create a counseling space that is warm, inviting, and safe for kids as I do one-on-one and group counseling with them. The space will set the tone for our sessions and will give students a sense of belonging. I chose lamps to soften the lighting in the room as well as comfortable seating for students to unwind and relax. I want the counseling suite to feel like a home away from home for my students.
