The notable John Dewey once said "If we teach our kids today, how we taught them yesterday, we rob them of tomorrow". As an educator, this means to me that as the world evolves, educators have the responsibility to evaluate, adapt to and teach students the skills and knowledge they need in order to compete in today's Career Force. Common Core does a great job at encouraging this, but there is also a need for student to develop skills at an earlier age. With the Shakespeare unit plan, students will have the opportunity to read Literature at an earlier age, thus allowing them the ability to process, analyze, compose, and critique literature at an earlier age.
