Aside from chairs and desks in my classroom, I have paid out of pocket to create a warm and inviting classroom my students look forward to coming to and working in. Over the past three years, I have painted the walls, put up string lighting, filled the room with 20+ plants, and purchased a number of posters and other decor. Each year, I have entertained the idea of adding flexible seating to my classroom but costs have always caused me to back down. This year I would finally like to add the option of different seating for my students. We are fortunate enough to have our own chrome cart in the classroom this year and my goal is to create a "chrome lounge." The seats I have chosen will allow students to take their chromebooks or other materials and work in a more comfortable and relaxing environment. More importantly, the arrangement of the seats will let students work more collaboratively, a key component of my classroom and teaching style.
