Chromebooks will be used in our classroom in a variety of ways. Our Reading textbooks are online and interactive. We will also use them in activity centers for research, test prep, Google Classroom, group projects, and interactive learning games. We have a class website. Students visit the site to review the education standards, read our weekly informational and narrative texts, and practice our weekly vocabulary and literary skills. There are links to interactive games, engaging videos that help visual and auditory learners. Our website is a great tool to accommodate all learning styles. Our daily schedule includes a Literacy Block where students rotate through learning stations. Each station offers students the opportunity of extra practice, remediation, acceleration, and differentiation for all learners. The stations are limited right now due to lack of technology. Chromebooks will be a great addition to our classroom, so that all students will have the opportunity to explore and learn during our Literacy Block. Chromebooks will also give students the opportunity to gain experience with word processing skills. Our state standardized test is now electronic. The days of paper/pencil testing are gone. Our students need daily exposure to word processors like Google Classroom. They will be able to type essays, constructed responses, poetry, creative stories, and create presentations with Chromebooks. This project will lead to a world of opportunities for a group of children who deserve the best!
