I love to foster a desire to read among my 1st graders. It is in 1st grade that they learn to truly read independently. I want to have areas around our classroom where they can cozy up and read a wonderful book. These chairs and bean bags will be a great resource! It will be these times in our classroom where they will look back and remember where their love of reading began - comfortable in a bean bag chair or up against a pillow reading Magic Tree House or Junie B Jones. My students will love being able to finish their work so they can find a place to read. I would love to have a new rug for my students to sit on for read-alouds at the beginning of a lesson. My first graders already show so much excitement for reading, and this project will encourage their love even more every single day.
