I want to create a warm, comfortable, safe and interesting place to not only get them excited about reading but to show them how reading can open doors. Students will be able to place their favorite books with recommendation blurbs on the displays. They can dive into a book and escape the traumas that inevitably come with being a middle schooler. I believe reading has a powerful force in closing the achievement gap and relighting the passion for learning. When we allow them choices in their education, students are more likely to engage in the content. With a classroom library, they can choose the books they want to read, I can help them find something they may enjoy, or their classmates can recommend. My vision has comfortable chairs for them to lay back and relax and a vast selection of YA literature. I have already created an open space to allow for this dream to happen, I just need the materials!
